    1. Chris Date considers that ' ...database design is really all about specifying integrity constraints!'
    We believe that this view is not appropriate for a wide range of database design requirements.
    2. His approach requires a sigificant background in database design.
    Our objective is to define an approach that is useful for beginners, as well as experienced database practitioners.
