Father of all Data Models
Back to the Data Model
The Requirement is for the design of the Father of all Data Models.

The Business Rules are as follows :-
  • Everything is a THING
  • Every THING is an example of a TYPE_OF_THING
  • Every THING can have a relationship with any other THING, including itself.    A THING related to itself is a hierarchy, for example an Organisation structure.    This is shown by a "Rabbit's Ear" in the diagram.
  • Every THING will have a ROLE in a relationship.
  • Every ROLE is an example of a TYPE_OF_ROLE.
  • Every THING has one or many of Attributes.
  • Every ATTRIBUTE is an example of a TYPE_OF_ATTRIBUTE.
Here is a Question about how to use this Approach in practice :-
